Do more unilateral training

09/12/2016

One of the training weeks on my current 8 week transformation, I did every exercise unilaterally rather than bilaterally. This means doing everything single legged or one handed, so that you’re effectively doing double the work during the workout. I’ve got to tell you man, my muscles haven’t felt that sore for a long time and the connection I experienced in areas of the muscle were also on a whole new level.

You should do the same; here are 3 reasons why…

Intense Connection

If you do a single arm pulldown and then compare it to the more regular double handed pulldown, you’ll instantly notice within about 3-4 reps that you’re able to achieve a much more intense connection in the muscle you’re training.

This builds a better mind to muscle pathway to the brain from your muscle, which breaks down barriers which were previously there. Once you forge this relationship the muscle performs better and it grows quicker, I’ve done all the EMG testing to prove this!

Use More Energy

If you have to do everything unilaterally your body and heart is doing twice as much work, obviously. This is a perfect training strategy during a transformation where you’re doing everything possible to use surplus energy stores and create as much metabolic stress on your body.

Having done this for a whole week I can confirm that this is an extremely taxing style of training and one which certainly scorns its way through energy like you wouldn’t believe.

No Helping Hand

We want to build a symmetrical, strong physique which doesn’t have weaknesses. Doing bilateral exercises all of the time allows weaknesses to develop because they can hide behind the stronger side and the bigger muscles. As soon as you switch things around and starting using unilateral training for a period of time there’s no place to hide.

Every muscle has to work as hard as the rest of your body, because there’s no external influencers to help. This is the perfect way to develop a more symmetrical physique and eliminate weaknesses which can cause postural issues down the line.

Besides everything else I have to reiterate how amazing the mind to muscle connection was just by switching to unilateral training. To further open up the pathways between your brain and muscle, use IN-KAGED during your workout. The efficaciously dosed ingredients are designed to improve your mind to muscle connection, which you’ll notice very quickly.

There’s a 3 step process which I encourage you to start using for the next 4 weeks to put this to the test. Just don’t forget to “bring it” to the gym and turn up the intensity because your workouts don’t mean s*** without enough intensity plugged in!
